Infrared Thermal Imaging is useful across many industrial sectors

Hi! I’m Craig Smith, a Reliability Engineer at RMS. Over the past few years I’ve been using Infrared Thermal Imaging technology to great affect, helping customers diagnose and repair maintenance issues with higher degrees of accuracy and speed.

Ultimo Software Solutions has announced that DNASTREAM, the IT consulting organisation, will operate as its UK implementation partner. DNASTREAM will focus on the manufacturing and utilities sectors, supporting businesses by driving the more efficient use of assets, enabled by Ultimo’s Enterprise Asset Management software.

Ultimo and DNASTREAM have been working together since 2018 and are now expanding their collaboration as a first step in Ultimo’s expansion of its international partner strategy. DNASTREAM offers the Ultimo portfolio as part of its extensive range of IT solutions. The business is fully equipped to advise customers on their asset management issues and support any implementation process.

In 2020, Shearwater Marine Services were awarded a contract to install protection for jetty piles at Ullapool Harbour in the Scottish Highlands, on behalf of The Ullapool Harbour Trust.

As consulting engineers on the project, Wallace Stone specified the use of SeaShield™ Systems supplied by Winn & Coales (Denso) Ltd to protect the jetty piles. SeaShield Systems have an extensive history of providing long-term corrosion protection to marine structures.

On the 1^st January 2021, the board of Directors of Winn & Coales (Denso) Ltd were delighted to announce three new appointments to the Board.

Mr Andrew Sweeney has joined Mr Chris Winn as Joint Managing Director of Winn & Coales (Denso) Ltd. Andrew qualified as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa and has held senior financial positions in multinational companies in various countries around the world. He joined Winn & Coales (Denso) Ltd in 2018 as Finance Director.

Norco Group Ltd are proud to announce a new maintenance contract with Total E&P Angola.

An established energy storage equipment manufacturer and service provider, Norco Group will support Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and standby battery equipment on TEP Angola’s assets in offshore Block 17. This includes the Dalia, Girassol, Pazflor and CLOV Floating Production, Storage and Offloading facilities (FPSOs).

What is it?

In cooling systems, fouling is any material or deposit that collects on the heat exchange surfaces. This can be airborne such as dust and leaves, or water borne depositions such as scales, inorganic and organic particles.

AI projects becoming economically successful

Rubix UK has acquired Knowlton & Newman Ltd – a specialist provider of electro-mechanical repair services to industries across the south of England - as part of the Group’s network development strategy.

Knowlton & Newman specialises in the repair and replacement of electric motors, pumps and gearboxes all supported by a ‘round the clock’ 24/7/365 callout service to minimise downtime for customers and reduce costs. 

Earthing and lightning protection manufacturer ABB Furse has replaced its on-site manned guarding with STANLEY Security’s Remote Guard Service, resulting in a saving of £76k per annum without compromising on security levels.  STANLEY Security has also been awarded the maintenance contract to cover the CCTV, fire & intruder alarm systems at both ABB Furse’s Nottingham sites.

ABB Furse’s manufacturing facilities in Nottingham are home to a number of high value items, making security a high priority.  The two ABB Furse sites, located a short distance apart, are protected by a range of security systems, including an intruder alarm system and a 30 camera CCTV system covering the perimeter areas and entrances.  It was felt by ABB Furse that the incumbent security provider was not delivering the level of service expected and the communication was poor.

Electrical control manufacturers are currently being placed under considerable pressure.  Projects are becoming more complex, the trading environment is extremely competitive, and customers naturally want to keep their costs to a minimum.  

The pressures (and costs) start from the moment a manufacturer’s estimating engineers receive details of a new project.
