Agadir-Chtouka desalination plant strikes gold with tailored compressor solution

Abengoa, a major multi-national infrastructure company working in the energy and water sectors, has contracted Ingersoll Rand’s Engineering Project Solutions team to design a tailored compressed air system for the Agadir-Chtouka desalination plant in Morocco, with the latest CompAir technology providing the perfect solution.

Water plants depend on high-quality instrument air and service air to be exceptionally clean and free of contaminants such as moisture and particles. The Agadir-Chtouka desalination plant required instrument air to power pneumatic equipment, valves and some electrical controls, as well as service air for the industrial processes at the facility, including seawater intake, the re-distribution of salt to the sea, storing drinking water in tanks, and cleaning these tanks too.

Replacement Ink & Glue Transfer Pumps significantly reduce Tissue Paper Manufacturers downtime with Payback of only 6 months

Adhesive Types, Background & Application

Careful consideration must be taken with pump selection when handling the transfer of glues. Depending on the type, they can be highly viscous as well as harden and solidify when exposed to air. Glues are typically either water based or solvent based, in this instance the former is relevant.

PVA is a common example of water-based glue, natural or synthetic soluble polymers are added to water to form the liquid, this type of product only works if the applied surface is permeable, for example wood and paper. The glue sets once the water has evaporated from the surface, the bond can then be broken easily by the reapplication of water, these glues are popular as they are low cost and friendly to the environment.

New Siemens actuator line for PICV valves operates as quiet, connected multitasker

Siemens Smart Infrastructure has upgraded its range of SSA actuators for small PICV valves by adding new features for more energy efficient and versatile hydronic room applications.

The updated SSA actuators now offer more flexibility due to their broad control possibilities - from analog control to KNX communication capabilities for room solutions and fast integration into connected systems. While using the same cable for communication and power, the customer saves time and cost. Thanks to the operating mode ‘nightmode’, the actuators are more silent than ever, with less than 28 dB. This makes them ideal for use in noise-sensitive areas, such as hotels, recording studios, meeting rooms and libraries.
