Teseo UK’s extruded aluminium compressed air delivery pipework is now working throughout Village Glass’ vast factory, one of the UK’s leading independent glass manufacturers.
The most recent development saw the company consolidate from three separate units into one major premises and, as part of a £3million project, the design and installation of a new compressed air production and delivery system to power the vast plant and equipment used in the production and cutting of glass. For a solution they looked across the industrial estate and contacted Teseo UK.
Managing Director, Neil Jesse of Village Glass: “Our Company has grown on the back of strong re-investment to ensure we have the best equipment. Our current machinery is top of the range and we were looking for a compressed air delivery system that was versatile enough to meet the layout of the factory and handle the demands of our 24 hour a day production schedule. The air lines in the property when we moved in were not fit for purpose and efficiencies are vital on our scale of production.”
Sean Connolly, managing director of Teseo UK: “Each week, Village Glass manufactures around 10,000 units over a five day, four night shift rota so we needed to make sure a system was robust enough to meet demands. The Teseo system is strong, easy to install, lightweight and looks very neat in situ. We installed the ring main and, having worked to a layout design put together by Village Glass, created numerous drops and outlets to couple up with the machinery.”
Teseo’s HBS and aluminium profile (AP) products are at the forefront of the industry, satisfying efficiencies and regulatory requirements as well as providing a 100% leak free system combined with valved zoning. In an industrial application this versatility means that individual production areas can be automatically isolated when not in operation to eliminate air leakage, ideal when seeking the maximum energy efficiencies.
Teseo’s aluminium extruded piping has an external rectangular section with tee slots and a fine, smooth internal bore making it an attractive solution as well as practical. A wide selection of angle and straight joints & clamping brackets make this system totally flexible in layout and quick to install.
Lighter than traditional steel airlines to install thus reducing stress on buildings, Teseo lines are also more energy efficient due to higher flow rates of a smooth profiled aluminium tube (typically 30% higher than steel) which equates to a lower pressure drop and overall energy and cost savings compared to traditional galvanised systems from day one.
“We’ve been very pleased with the system,” says Neil. “Since it was installed we have had no problems and expect to see savings over the next few years thanks to efficiencies. We’re now re-investing in more equipment and the versatility of the Teseo product means we can design the factory with confidence that the compressed air delivery will meet requirements.”
