On Thursday 11th June 2009 BEKO held a Measurement Technology Open Day.

http://www.engineeringmaintenance.info/images/100_0520.jpgThe venue was the impressive New Guesten Hall at Avoncroft Building Museum, very near to BEKO UK offices. This venue was chosen partly because of it’s location, but also because of it’s unique construction: The roof dates from 1330... and is mounted onto a modern lower structure giving a perfect blend of traditional and modern- which was one of the themes of the day. BEKO are a company combining traditional values with a dynamic, forward looking approach to business.

This theme was underscored in the presentations made, firstly Rainer Stuetzel, our International marketing Manager outlined BEKO’s history- from in a lock-up garage in Duesseldorf to an independent worldwide leader in air treatment with fifteen subsidiaries and three manufacturing companies. Rainer told how BEKO have opened two new manufacturing sites within the last year, and how the HQ in Germany is currently undergoing a major expansion.

Following this summary Roland Dunker spoke about Flowmeters and Dewpoint meters, explaining how BEKO make it easy for customers to find out the quality and consumption of their compressed air with BEKO’s simple, accurate measuring solutions.

Next up was UK sales manager Kevin Morris with a concise explanation of our leak monitoring technology. Leak Detector offers a simple and inexpensive way of reducing air loss in compressed air systems- after all, up to 1/3 of all compressed air just goes to waste! Kevin also showed how leak surveys fit hand in hand with flow monitoring to create an ongoing virtuous circle of improving energy efficiency.

Roland then came back and talked about BEKOKAT and METPOINT, another two products which fit perfectly together. BEKOKAT provides true oil-free air regardless of compressor type or ambient conditions. METPOINT is able to verify the resulting Air oil content right down to  ISO class zero quality and gives a clear and constant indication of which class is being achieved.  The combination of these two products gives air users with critical applications real peace of mind thanks to a built-in alarm contact.

After Roland had finished, the delegates were able to see the new products first hand during an hour long demonstration session. During this time the BEKO team was on hand to answer any questions and to show the products in use. There were four separate demonstration stations which allowed everyone a chance to see and feel how BEKO have changed and grown in recent years. Many people can probably still remember the time, not so very long ago, when BEKO just made condensate drains!

After the demonstration session delegates enjoyed a well earned buffet lunch before making their way home. BEKO even provided a bottle of locally produced cider to remind them of the event when they were relaxing over a weekend barbeque!

Much interest was shown and many leads and enquiries were generated. Feedback from the delegates was extremely positive, with some good ideas to improve future open days. BEKO feel that this kind of event is especially relevant given the current economic climate, as it shows new ways for distributors to develop new areas of business which are a little outside of their normal areas of activity. Many distributors want to be involved in the exciting new measurement technology but are unsure of how to proceed. BEKO, being a trusted name in the compressed air and gas industry, offer all the support and advice needed for distributors and end users to take advantage of their knowledge and experience resulting in the realisation of both new business and energy savings across the spectrum of industry.

So well done to all the BEKO team, from Germany, Belgium and the UK, for a successful and well attended event, and thanks to all those who attended this successful and enjoyable event.
