Edwards cryogenic portfolio now available globally

Bringing cryogenic cooling and vacuum technologies together in one integrated portfolio for customers worldwide

Edwards, a leading provider of vacuum solutions, has launched a complete cryogenic product range, now available globally. The portfolio brings together cryogenic compressors, cold heads, vacuum pumps, cryo panel solutions and integrated cryogenic systems, providing customers with a single source for cryogenic cooling and vacuum technologies.

Designed for applications that require stable, low temperatures and controlled environments, the new range supports scientific research, space exploration and industrial coating. Typical applications include particle accelerators, superconducting magnets, low-temperature physics research, satellite testing, space simulation chambers, and thin-film coating processes used in optics and other advanced manufacturing technologies.

The portfolio enables customers to source individual cryogenic components or configures complete systems tailored to their specific requirements.

“Cryogenic applications demand precision, reliability and the ability to integrate multiple technologies seamlessly,” says Bernhard Fischer, Product Manager Cryogenic Technologies at Edwards. “With our new cryogenic portfolio now available globally, we can support customers at every stage of their journey, whether they need a standalone component or a fully integrated cryogenic solution.”

A new cryogenic portfolio now available globally
The global product range includes:
• ECC cryogenic helium compressors, designed to supply the high-purity helium gas required to drive cryogenic cooling and vacuum systems and maintain stable low temperatures during continuous operation.
• ECH cryogenic cold heads, which use Gifford-McMahon technology to generate and maintain low temperatures with minimal vibration, helping support sensitive and advanced applications.
• ECP cryogenic vacuum pumps, designed to create high-vacuum environments of up to approximately 10⁻⁶ mbar, with adaptive operation across varying process conditions and a modular design that supports maintenance and uptime.
• Cryo panel solutions, engineered for targeted gas capture in specialised cryogenic vacuum applications, including space applications.
• Integrated cryogenic cooling systems, combining compressors and cold heads to create controlled low-temperature environments.
• Integrated cryogenic vacuum systems, combining compressors and cryogenic pumps to deliver stable, low-pressure conditions where vacuum integrity is critical.

The modular approach allows customers to deploy individual products independently or combine them into coordinated systems that deliver both cooling and vacuum performance.

Supporting innovation across science and industry
Cryogenic technology plays an important role in applications where temperature stability and vacuum control are essential. Edwards' cryogenic solutions support customers working across scientific research, aerospace testing, and advanced manufacturing.

In research environments, the cryogenic systems are used in particle accelerators, superconducting magnets and low-temperature physics experiments, where precise temperature control and stable operating conditions are fundamental to achieving reliable results.

Cryogenic pumps and systems also support space exploration, aerospace testing, and ion thruster testing. They are used in satellite qualification programmes and space simulation chambers, helping to recreate the extreme vacuum and temperature conditions found in space.

Across advanced manufacturing, our vacuum and cryogenic technologies enable thin-film coating processes used in optics, where controlled environments are essential to product quality and process consistency.

“Researchers and engineers continue to push the boundaries of science and technology,” adds Fischer. “Our role is to provide the cryogenic cooling and vacuum environments that help make that work possible. By making our new cryogenic portfolio available globally, we can support customers with the expertise, flexibility and integration they need throughout the lifecycle of their systems.”

This expanded global range strengthens Edwards' ability to support customers throughout the lifecycle of their cryogenic systems, from initial design and configuration through to installation, service and ongoing optimisation.
