The Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) has received $2.54m to conduct research in the field of commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems with primary focus on testing new refrigerants in a type of air conditioning unit that runs on waste heat.
