Extended range contacts handle more current

Wind Power News >>

“Extended Range Contacts” have been added to the standard PP and SB connector series.  These contacts provide additional design flexibility and value by allowing use of larger wire sizes.  This increases the amperage capability without enlarging APP’s SB120, PP120 and PP180 connectors.  The new contacts are suitable wherever PP’s and SB’s are being used and where increased power and decreased space is a constant goal for design engineers.

The SB120 Plus connectors will now accept a #1 AWG (42.4 mm²) wire size.  The PP120 Plus connectors will accept a #1 AWG (42.4 mm²) and a #1/0 (53.5 mm²) wire size. Finally, the PP180 Plus connectors accept a #2/0 (67.4 mm²) and  #3/0 (85 mm²) wire size.  The new Extended Range contacts will be crimped using the manufacturers existing crimp tools.
