How Can CCR Heater Coatings Support Higher Throughput and Lower Fuel Use?

CCR catalytic reforming heaters must deliver the heat needed for production while operating within temperature limits. Improving radiant heat transfer can give operators more room to manage fuel consumption, severity, and throughput.

In an upcoming webinar, Anton Korobeynikov, Process Engineer, and Larry Emch, Subject Matter Expert in High-Emissivity Coatings, will examine how UOP-approved tube and refractory coatings affect heater performance. Using project case studies, they will explain how pre- and post-application results were evaluated and what the findings mean for refinery operations.
One European refinery applied coatings across four CCR heater cells. Its post-project evaluation found that combined radiant efficiency rose from 52.62% to 62.45% on a normalized basis. Lower bridgewall temperatures helped create capacity for 236 tonnes per day of additional throughput. A wider energy balance also calculated 5.66 Gcal/h in net fuel savings.
The webinar will cover how the coatings improve heat transfer, how to interpret performance comparisons, and how operators can use efficiency gains to pursue their unit’s priorities.
