The Weir Power & Industrial team has further strengthened its position in the Chinese market by recently securing a number of new contracts from customers across the territory.

It is commonly accepted that English is the world’s ‘business language’ and that there is a growing interest in the English language across China. In recognition of this the Weir Power & Industrial Emerging Markets Chinese operation has set up The English Club.

Weir Power & Industrial’s South Africa team has had an excellent first half with order input increasing by more than 35% and sales output performance up 15%.

With the nuclear market booming, Weir Power and Industrial is in a strong position to deliver valves to the nuclear power industry. One such success story for Weir is the US facility in Ipswich, Massachusetts, which manufactures the Tricentric triple offset butterfly valve. The facility now possesses an ASME III N stamp, enabling them to produce nuclear grade products. Thanks to this certification and the hard work of the nuclear sales team, a significant nuclear valve order from Westinghouse was secured earlier this year. This order gives Weir Power and Industrial the responsibility for the installation of “N” stamped valves in the new units at Sanmen and Haiyang sites in China.

Weir Specialty Pumps has had exceptional success with its self-primer product line since its launch in 2005 and recent additions have now given Weir a complete product range in the self-primer market. As well as the WEMCO Self-Primer line, Weir has added the WEMCO Classic Self-Primer and WEMCO High Head Self-Primer models.

Weir Specialty Pumps was recently approached by a customer to investigate clogging on a typical non-clog pump installed on a main influent pump station.
