This session highlights important aspects of using infrared thermography as a diagnostic tool. It is a CM technique operating at two levels; qualitative - where the radiant heat patterns emitted from a machine or component are a measure of machine condition; and quantitative - where the radiometric temperature measurements are able to determine regions, or points, of increased or reduced heat emission which can indicate the presence of an anomaly that can lead to predicting machine or component failure.
