Western Sugar to pay penalty, upgrade plant to resolve Clean Water Act violation

Western Sugar, of Denver, has agreed to pay a $56,736 civil penalty, and spend an additional $350,000 on plant upgrades to cut pollution and settle allegations of Clean Water Act violation for discharging excessive fecal coliform bacteria in wastewater from its sugar beet processing facility in Nebraska.
