A good food safety management system protects the health of consumers and protects food businesses from the risks associated with making its customers ill. There are strong moral and economic reasons for ensuring food businesses develop and operate a food safety management system, and it is a legal requirement. Major changes to UK food hygiene legislation on 11th January 2006 means that food business operators, managers, supervisors and food handlers need to be aware of a broad range of issues that might affect the long term viability of the business in which they work.
The CIEH has developed a range of new food hygiene training courses and WATA is pleased to be able to offer the new courses and qualifications.
The law requires that food handlers are trained commensurate with their work activities and in recognition of this WATA can provide the breadth of knowledge that food businesses need. This includes accredited foundation to advanced level courses for food handlers, supervisors, managers and food business operators.
Both the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) endorse food handler refresher training. The CIEH recommend refresher training every three years and WATA can provide accredited refresher training to help food handlers renew their knowledge and comply with best practice.
A cornerstone of new food hygiene legislation is the requirement for food business operators to operate a food safety management system based on HACCP principles and WATA is able to provide accredited HACCP training to help businesses comply with the new legal requirement to train food handlers in HACCP.
The courses on offer will also help ensure that employers meet their legal obligations under health & safety legislation, in particular to provide appointed ‘competent persons' with training that will enable them to manage and control food operations, such as catering contractors, which may operate from their premises.
Contact us today for an informal chat about your training requirements; or if you would like us to visit you for a no obligation, no cost review we would be pleased to help you with your training needs.
