Cranes & Hoists
Leading Sheffield-based manufacturer, Mechan, has signed an exclusive deal to supply unique Italian mini cranes and mould handling equipment to the UK and Irish markets. Thanks to its partnership with Gruniverpal Tranchero, Mechan is now the sole distributor of the Minidrel S and Transidrel series mould lifters and the Minidrel B, GB and GIA series mini cranes.
Both the mini cranes and mould lifters boast Gruniverpal’s patented kinematic system, which allows the equipment to achieve lifting capacities and reach heights that were previously impossible.
The Gruniverpal mini cranes are widely regarded as some of the best on the market. They feature a combined articulated-telescopic hoisting system for maximum flexibility, whilst their compact construction makes them suitable for access to confined areas. The slewing boom’s 180-degree rotation (left and right) and hydraulic controls ensures precision handling, even in restricted spaces.

The world’s first lightweight portable davit jib crane capable of lifting a tonne in weight has created quite a splash with the water industry since its launch early this year.

Lifting equipment manufacturer, Demag Cranes & Components Ltd, has installed a specialist crane system at Enviropower Ltd’s energy from waste plant in Lancing, West Sussex. The £12.5 million renewable energy facility processes biomass, typically timber and cardboard waste from the construction and demolition industries, for the generation of electricity.
Corus Process Engineering (CPE), part of Corus Northern Engineering Services (CNES) has successfully completed the manufacture and assembly of two, six-metre diameter steel lifting girdles that will be used to remove (lift and tail) the 400-tonne heat exchangers from the reactors at Calder Hall nuclear power plant in Cumbria.
