The latest addition to its FD oven burner range – which is designed to maximise performance and energy efficiency – is being introduced by process gas burner specialist, Lanemark International Ltd. The FD-C (GA) packaged burner provides flexible, high turn-down control of both gas and air and utilises the latest ‘air pressure lead’ (APL) monobloc gas valve technology.  The concept allows changes in process heat demand to be transmitted directly to the burner by a modulating control signal which then enables the speed of the burner combustion air fan to be varied, with the burner windbox differential air pressure increased or decreased accordingly.  Because these pressure changes are then transmitted to the master gas control valve, which simultaneously adjusts the gas flow rate, a safe and efficient gas/air ratio is maintained at all times.

Adrian Langford, General Manager of Lanemark’s Process Burner Division, highlights the key benefits arising from the design –

“The FD-C (GA) overcomes limitations often associated with fixed gas and air valve linkage control arrangements which cannot respond to changing plant conditions,” he says.  “Moreover, as there are no mechanical linkages between the gas and combustion air control valves and dampers, there is no risk of ‘sticking’.  This can, under some circumstances, lead to potentially dangerous combustion conditions.”

A choice of models is available in the FD-C (GA) range providing heat inputs from 9 to 880 kW (30,000 to 3,000,000 Btu/h).  Units can also be specified to operate on either natural gas or propane – broadening the range of application environments in which they can be installed.

“We believe that the concept is particularly relevant to a range of duties across the manufacturing and processing industry – including product finishing, textile and fabric drying, rotary moulding, food processing and powder and grain drying,” continues Adrian Langford.  “Alongside our existing FD range, our TX tank heating and Midco air heating burner units, we believe this is an important addition which will open up greater opportunities for production and environmental efficiency for our customers,” he concludes.
